Prosecutor's Office Charges Foreign Citizen with Illegal Purchase, Storage and Import of Large Amounts of Narcotics into Georgia
The Prosecutor's Office of Georgia has charged a foreign citizen with illegal purchase, storage and import of large amounts of narcotics into Georgia. The Prosecutor General's Office of Georgia has released information on this.
According to the agency, the accused illegally imported "MDMA" and "amphetamine" into Georgia through the border checkpoint "Sarpi".
"The investigation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs established that the accused, while abroad, illegally purchased and stored the narcotics "MDMA" and "amphetamine", which he illegally imported into Georgia through the border checkpoint "Sarpi".
The detainee was charged under Article 260, Part 2, Subparagraph “a” (purchase and storage of large quantities of narcotic drugs) and Article 262, Part 2, Subparagraph “a” (illegal import of large quantities of narcotic drugs into Georgia) of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which provides for up to 12 years of imprisonment as a form and measure of punishment. Based on the prosecutor's motion, the court has already imposed imprisonment on the accused as a preventive measure, the information says.
