    The Prosecutor's Office releases information on the verdict handed down against Demetre Chikovani and Ani Naskidashvili in the Giga Avaliani case.

    As stated in the information released by the agency, based on the evidence presented by the Prosecutor's Office, the Tbilisi City Court, based on the evidence presented by the Prosecutor's Office, sentenced Demetre Chikovani, the accused of preparing to intentionally cause serious harm to Giga Avaliani's health, to 9 years and 9 months in prison, and Ani Naskidashvili, the accused of failing to report the crime, to 5 years and 3 months in prison.

    “The Tbilisi City Court fully accepted the evidence presented by the Prosecutor’s Office and found the defendants guilty of the facts of preparing to intentionally cause serious harm to Giga Avaliani’s health and failing to report the crime. The evidence examined in court established that in September 2025, Aleksandre Gabashvili, together with Giorgi Rikadze and Demetre Chikovani, planned a group attack on Giga Avaliani. On September 29, 2025, in the evening, Aleksandre Gabashvili, Giorgi Rikadze and Demetre Chikovani arrived at the training center located in the Seaside settlement of Tbilisi for the purpose of revenge, where they arranged an ambush and had all the conditions created to organize an attack, however, on that day, due to reasons beyond their control, they were unable to carry out their intention. On October 1, 2025, Aleksandre Gabashvili, Giorgi According to the plan developed by Rikadze and Demetre Chikovani, Aleksandre Gabashvili and Giorgi Rikadze attacked Giga Avaliani in a group, who suffered serious injuries, as a result of which he died in a medical institution on October 24, 2025.

    Although Ani Naskidashvili knew that a serious crime was being prepared and committed, she did not report this to law enforcement agencies. The court found Demetre Chikovani guilty under Article 18, Section 3, Subparagraph “l” of Article 117 of the Criminal Code of Georgia (preparation of serious injuries to health in a group) and determined the type and length of the sentence to be 13 years of imprisonment, which was reduced by 1/4 and finally 9 years and 9 months of imprisonment. Ani Naskidashvili was found guilty "Under Article 376, Part 2 (Failure to report a particularly serious crime), the punishment was set at 7 years of imprisonment, which was reduced by 1/4 and finally reduced to 5 years and 3 months of imprisonment," the information states.
