EU's attitude towards Georgia is a mini-model of Brussels bureaucracy's incompetence - Shalva Papuashvili
According to the statement of the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, technical issues were discussed at the level of technical groups at the meeting on the EU-Georgia visa dialogue, however, according to him, Brussels is also raising political issues in the issue of visa-free travel.
According to Papuashvili, this shows "Brussels' dishonesty". According to him, the EU violated the 2010 agreement between the EU and Georgia when it imposed visa requirements for holders of diplomatic passports.
“Brussels violated international law when it imposed visa requirements on holders of diplomatic passports. It violated the 2010 international agreement between the European Union and Georgia. The European Union is a violator of international law when it accuses others of violating international law,” Papuashvili said.
According to him, after the aforementioned decision, the European Union adopted special regulations tailored to Georgia, which, according to Papuashvili, apply only to Georgia and allow Brussels to impose various requirements.
The Speaker of the Parliament also criticized the Brussels bureaucracy and stated that the European Union’s attitude towards Georgia is an example of its incompetence.
"The Brussels bureaucracy is behaving so incompetently that it gives us hope that in the end they themselves will not take a step that will harm themselves. What they have done so far has only harmed the European Union and trust in it. If they want to shoot themselves in the foot again now, they can do so, but the European Union's attitude towards Georgia is a miniature model of the incompetence that distinguishes the current Brussels bureaucracy," Papuashvili said.
