We are now at the third stage of filing another complaint... The UK legal system is a nightmare - Shalva Papuashvili

Regarding the response to the second complaint filed with the BBC, the Speaker of Parliament Shalva Papuashvili stated that the Georgian Dream plans to continue the dispute and is working on preparing a third complaint.

According to him, according to the procedure, the first review of the complaint took place within the broadcaster itself, by the same journalists who prepared the story, and at the second stage the case was reviewed by the editorial team, although both instances did not satisfy the complaint.

According to Papuashvili, at this stage it is planned to file a third complaint, which will again be considered at a higher level within the framework of the BBC's internal mechanism. According to him, at the final stage, the issue can be discussed by the broadcaster's board, with the participation of external experts.

The Speaker of Parliament criticized the UK legal system and noted that the current procedures, in his opinion, are “hostile to the victim” and significantly delay the dispute process.

“It turned out that the UK legal system is a nightmare. I don’t know how they talk to us about any justice or legal procedures,” Papuashvili said.

According to him, the ruling team plans to go through all instances and, if necessary, will continue the case at the international level, including at the European Court of Human Rights.

According to Papuashvili, the dispute is related to a story distributed by the BBC, which, in his opinion, contains “disinformation” and requires the removal of the said material from the platform and recognition of the fact.
