Chairman of the Supreme Council of Adjara Resigned

The Chairman of the Supreme Council of Adjara, Davit Gabaidze, has resigned. Gabaidze himself announced this at a briefing today, March 30.

“I would like to announce my resignation from the post of Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara. Many people already know this fact practically, although it is a legal procedure that this announcement must be made. I am stating this position.

Along with my resignation announcement, I would like to thank the Georgian Dream team. I headed this important institution for less than 10 years during three convocations, serving the people as best I could. I will not spare my strength. I would like to express my gratitude especially to the founder of the party, Bidzina Ivanishvili, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, the President, the Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, and the members of the government.

The word “clan” is not the term I should use here. I was the chairman before Tornike Rizhvadze came, I do not think it is correct to connect these two facts.

At this stage, naturally, I will have to be in the Supreme Council for some time, I also have proposals from our team, I have some decisions, and I have to go through these consultations with my family.

My replacement can be any member of the majority. Everyone is worthy, the team should do it, the majority should decide, if it is Tsotne Ananidze, I welcome his candidacy,” said Davit Gabaidze.

Since 2016, Davit Gabaidze has been the chairman of the Supreme Council of three convocations in a row.
